TENNIS CLUB DANCE
Howell’s Hall, Trentham, was filled with a cheery throng recently wheu the annual ball of the Trentham Defence Tenuis Club was held. Dancing to a lively orchestra was enjoyed, Mr. R. P. Kennedy acting as M.C.
The committee, to whose efforts must be attributed the success of the dance, comprised Misses E. Millan, B. Lowe, J. Avery, E. O’Connor, M. Mumby, and Messrs. R. P. Kennedy, R. Gamble. A. Richardson, W. Douglas, A. D. Leighton, I. Scott, N. Kitchen and L. Trappit t.
Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Lowe, Mr. and Mrs. Chapman, Mr. and Mrs. Breinner, Mr. and Mrs. Gamble, Mr. and Mrs. L. Saggers, Mr and Mrs. Trappitt, Mr. and Mrs. E. Cottel, Mr. and Mrs. Gowdy, Mr. and Mrs. Cresswell, Mr. and Mrs. D. Bush, Mr. and Mrs. Forbes, Mr. and Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Thomas; Misses G. Jackson, 0. Jackson, E. and R. Milligan, E. Hines, P. There has been a great deal of activity at the Missions to Seamen Institute during the past week. A special dance was held, music being supplied by the band of the Akaroa. On the same evening a whist drive was held, the winners of prizes being Messrs. D. Murray and W. T. Sack. The Toe H Merrymakers supplied an entertaining programme of music, and sketches ou another occasion. The ladies’ committee s.erved supper each evening.
