Wellington Markets Quiet PRICES GENERALLY STEADY Business opened quietly on the Wellington Stock Exchange, the markets presenting no unusual features. Prices were generally steady on last week e closing rates. Government loans were in strong demand, but the quoted rates did not attract sellers. Banks were very dull with no indication of better prices. New Zealand Guarantee Corporations we_re very firm and business was done at o/7 and 5/6}, 750 shares being traded. Wellington Woollens were strong, buyers offering £6/7/- for the preference, with sellers at £6/12/- for these and </* less for the ordinaries. Austral New Zealand Mining, Ld

The property on the Clutha River, New Zealand, which Austral New Zealand Mining, Ltd., is to gold-dredge, is estimated to contain, on the area So far tested, 28.000.000 cubic yards of an average value of 3 grains gold per cubic yard, from which the recovery is expected to be nod less than 2:4 grains fine gold per cubic yard. With gold at £6 sterling per ounce, the average recoverable value is 7.2 d. per cubic yard, or 9tl. in New Zealand currency; t All-in costs are estimated not to • exceed 2.8 d. (N.Z.) per cubic yard. As some of the adjoining areas are expected to be valuable, an electricallydriven dredgeiof. large capacity (at least 3.500.000 cubic yards per annum) will be obtained. The total purchase is £37.375 in cash and 5000 ordinary shares fully paid of £1 each. Austral Malay Tin. Ltd., the parent company, according to the prospectus, does not propose to dispose of any deferred shares allotted to it. and the operating company does not propose to issue any deferred shares except, to Austral Malay Tin, Ltd.
