Wellington Markets Quiet PRICES GENERALLY STEADY Business opened quietly on the Wellington Stock Exchange, the markets presenting no unusual features. Prices were generally steady on last week e closing rates. Government loans were in strong demand, but the quoted rates did not attract sellers. Banks were very dull with no indication of better prices. New Zealand Guarantee Corporations we_re very firm and business was done at o/7 and 5/6}, 750 shares being traded. Wellington Woollens were strong, buyers offering £6/7/- for the preference, with sellers at £6/12/- for these and </* less for the ordinaries.
