ABEL TASMAN SOLD
Ship Brings £l6O and Cargo £4OO Dominion Special Service. Grejmouth, August 1. The stranded steamer Abel Tasman was auctioned to-day. The hull, machinery, fittings and furniture were sold for £l6O to Mr. Cyril Neville, acting on behalf of a Greymouth syndicate of five. The same syndicate purchased the cargo of approximately 800.000 feet of timber, 499 sacks of ox hides and tallow, a traction engine, furniture and a piano, for £4OO. There was a large crowd present, but the bidding was confined to a trio of prospective purchasers. No date has yet been fixed for the magisterial inquiry, at which it is stated Mr. H. Morgan, S.M.. is most likely to preside.
