Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, Lord Galway, attended the enthronement service of the Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, last night. Their Excellencies will visit Scots College, Miramar, at 2.30 p.m. to-day to open the Alderson Memorial Library.

Sir James Grose has returned to ■Wellington from a tour of the uort.h.

Mr. E. H. Lawn travelled north last night from Wellington. Mr. Sinclair Carruthers left Wellington last niirht for the north. Mr. J. Macdonald, Invercargill, wns a passenger from Wellington last night, for tlie south. Mr. E. Parlane, secretary of the Canterbury Drivers' Union, is visiting Wellington on business. Dr. C. E. A. Coldicutt, Auckland, accompanied by Mrs. Coldicutt, left Wellington last night for the South Island.

Captain S. E. A. Gregory, marine superintendent of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, left 'Wellington for the south last night.

Captain W. Olphert, marine superintendent of the New Zealand Shipping Company, was a passenger from Wellington last, night for the south. Mr. Warwick Fairfax, managing director of the "Sydney Morning Herald,” and Mrs. Fairfax passed through Auckland by the Monterey on Saturday. Mr. Fairfax is making a two months’ visit, to Japan, via Honolulu, and Mrs. Fairfax is travelling to England in the course of an extended tour. The Ven. Archdeacon Gavin, New Plymouth, is the guest of his daughter-in-law, Mrs. James Gavin, Wilton Road, Wellington.

Mr. O. E. White, supervising estates clerk in the head office of the Public Trust, has been appointed inspector at head office. Mr. White joined the staff of the Public Trust Office at Christchurch in February, 1910, and has occupied responsible positions at the head office and nt district oilices. During the war period he served as a member of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces.
