Management Committee Meeting NO TRAVELLING EXPENSES A meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Badminton Association was held last night, the president, Dr. G. Marshall, presiding. It wns agreed to give permission to the Levin clubs, which belong, to the Wellington Badminton Association district, to link up with the proposed Manawatu saib-associatiou, which will be affiliated to the western districts association. The proposed boundaries of the sub-association are the same as: for the Manawatu Lawn Tennis Association. The Wellington Harbour Board club was granted affiliation to the Wellington association.
Invitation to play representative matches with Wairarapa mid with the Palmerston 'North club, were received. It was decided to request clubs to notify the association secretary of the names of players willing to make the trips to Masterton and Palmerston North, a condition being that all the players pay their own expenses. The teams will be .-'elected from the names sent in by a small commit tee.
In a discussion it was mentioned that if the clubs expected the association _to pay the expenses of nlayers travelling while representing the Wellington association the clubs must pay the association more than sixpence a head ns affiliation fees.
The report on the two visits of Mr. J. Devlin disclosed a net profit of approximately £33. but as* the Wellington guarantee was £45. the loss to Wellington association will be about £l2.
A discussion took place on the question whether players were entitled to a rest between the second and third games in any match. It was mentioned that some players were in the habit of leaving the court at the end of the second set. This, in tlie opinion of members of the com mittoe, was illegal. Tlie rules cf badminton do not provide for any rest al all. The match must be played right through without any stopping between games. It was stated that the North Island championships tournament will he held in Wellington. The dates are August 24 to 29 both inclusive.
The resignation of Dr. G. Jtar.-'hall. vice, president of the Wellington Badniinston Association, who has been transferred to Dunedin wns accepted with the greatest regret. Members snoke in the highest terms of the work Dr. Marshall had done for badminton in Wellington. He was presented by Mr. D. O. Wli.vte, on behalf of the management committee, with a memento a.- a mark of the esteem in which they held him. Dr. Marshall was practically the founder of the Wellington Badminton Association.
