SUBSTITUTE FOR WOOL
Propaganda at Tokio
(Received July 26, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 25. The latest propaganda for a wool substitute Is a staple fibre exhibition covering a large floor area, in Tokio’s biggest department store, Mitsukoshi. It shows the complete process from cedar logs to a multitude of textiles for apparel and furnishings. The exhibitor, the Nitto Spinning Company, produces 30 tons of staple fibre daily and is negotiating for a 10,000,000-yen plant to double its output a year hence. The Foreign Office confirms that Japan and Australia have agreed to reopen trade negotiations on the basis ot existing Customs conditions.
