New British Two-mile Record PEAK FORM REGAINED By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received July 26, 6.30 p.m.) London, July 25. A remarkable two miles by J. E. Lovelock, in Oinln. 3 4-ssec„ easily a British record, was a feature of tlie Birchfield Harriers sports at Birmingham. Nurmi’s world record is Smin. 59 3-ssee. The "Daily Sketch” reports that Lovelock has decided to compete in tlie .1500 metres at the Olympic Games in view of C. IL Matthews coming on for tlie 5000 metres. Thus Lovelock will probably again meet the British runner S. C. Wooderson, who will attempt both the SOO and 1500 metres, and also tlie American, Glen Cunningham, who deprived Lovelock of the world mile record, and tlie Italian Beccali, winner of tlie event at Los Angeles in 1932. Tlie manager of tlie New Zealand team, Dr. A. E. Porritt, says that lie is not worried by Lovelock’s display against Wooderson in the British championships on July 11. Re has come on a lot since and has now regained his peak form.

Lovelock says that. V. P. Boot and Matthews have founn adaption . of their style to cinder tracks slow and painful, but appear to have turned the corner and should now progress rapidly.
