A recent addition to the gallery of photographs in the Wellington Aero Club’s clubroom nt Rongotai Aerodrome, and one which occupies a prominent position there, is a framed picture of Squadron Leader M. C. McGregor, D.F.C., and Mr. J. S. Fraser, photographed together. Squadron Leader McGregor, who is photographed in uniform as service manager ot’ Union Airways, was killed when the company’s Miles Falcon struck the anemometer mast on February 19, and “Scotty” Fraser was killed at the McGregor benefit pageant on March 28. when his parachute failed to open. The photograph was taken at Palmerston North at the inauguration of Union Airways’ service in January last, but now, in its narrow black frame, it forms a Utting and valued memorial of the two men who have lost their lives at the aerodrome.

Three footballers were taken to hospital by the Wellington Free Ambulance on Saturday afternoon. Two student teachers, Mr. P. Caird, 378 Blanket Street, and Mr. S. Herman, who lives in Boulcott Street, were injured while playing at the Lyall Bay Recreation Ground, the former receiving an injury to his throat caused by a kick under the jaw, and the latter slight concussion. The other player, Mr. Kemp Coley, 7A Aorangi Terrace, student, received an injury to his right hip while playing at the Kilbirnie Reserve.

Those engaged in a number of trades, such as the carpet-weiuving, wooden sports goods, felt and spngig work and piano tuning, have applied for association with the Auckland 1 Furniture Trades Union, and the union has asked the Registrar of Unions to incorporate them under the one title of “Auckland Furniture and Related Trades Industrial Union.” The attitude of the union is that these separate entities have at present little status as industrial units and a very small membership, whose Interests would best be served by a merging into one union.
