Position Regarding Wilson Home AUCKLAND’S HOPES Dominion Special Service. Auckland, July 2-1. How Lord NiiHleld's fund of £50,000 and Ids additional gift of £lO,OOO tire to bo used was discussed at the annual meeting of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society, by the chairman. Mr. G. L. Taylor. At the same time he described the position of the ' Wilson Home.
Although the branch had not yet officially accepted Mr. and Mrs. 1V.,1t. Wilson's offer, the executive hoped to lie in a position to meet the responsibilities entailed by an acceptance within the next few months, be said. “So far as this society is concerned.” said Mr. Taylor, “we will get our proportion on tile interest of £50,000, although it has not yet been decided how this will be allocated, whether on a population basis or on necessity. The £lO,OOO was given as an endowment for the upkeep of homes for crippled children. As the AVilsoii Home is the only one likely to be established within the next few years it has been decided that all the interest from the £lO.OOO will go to that if it eventuates." Later Mr. Taylor said that the executive desired that the home should be established. It realised that much good could be done by sncji a home and that a number of suitable cases were waiting for its establishment, but the offer had not yet been officially accepted because the executive felt the branch was not yet ready to take the responsibility of its maintenance. From £2OOO to £3OOO a year would be required for its upkeep. The society would get the interest on the cudow. went of £lO,OOO and on the Mayor’s fund, but these sources would not give an income of more than about £l2OO n year. The executive thought it was not wise to take over the homo until it felt it could meet the responsibilities that would be entailed. Mr. Taylor said he was optimistic, however, and thought that in a few months the society would be in a position to accept the offer.
