WATCH THE CLOCK

Late For Appointments It is amusing to stand under the clock on a corner where many meetings take place. You will notice what a number of people are late for their appointments. Those who are waiting begin-to cast anxious looks at the time and pace restlessly up and down until the guilty ones come hurrying up with a voluble explanation of their lateness. For we always have an explanation, though sometimes it is not a very good one.

Of course we cannot guard against unforeseen circumstances, and sometimes there is a legitimate excuse for the delay, but mostly it is just pure carelessness. People are too lazy to make that extra effort and too inconsiderate to bother about the trouble they cause their friends. AV omen are supposed to be the worst offenders, and I am'afraid the charge is a true one. Yet it is so easy to plan the day’s work in such a fashion that you can prevent the loss of those few important minutes. Everything we do should have system and order behind it if we are to make a success of our lives, and an unpunctual woman is usually a careless one into the bargain.

Some women seem to think that luteness enhances their value, especially when they are meeting men friends. It doesn't do, they say. to be hanging round waiting for them: it looks as though they are over-eager for the meeting. Nothing is further from the truth.

A num hates to bo kept waiting, and is inclined to draw unfavourable conclusions about the character of a person who is never on time. He thinks that carelessness in small things is an indication of inefficiency in bigger ones. It has been said that yon can always tell a woman’s age by noting bow late she is for an appointment, ami if this is so, some of us must be veritable grandmothers!
