Specially imported costumes and scenery will be used in the production of “The New Moon,” which is to commence at the Grand Opera House on August 15. The colourful splendour of a wealthy shipowner’s mansion in old New Orleans, together with the gorgeous costuming in character with the times (late 18th century) should offer theatregoers a feast of colour seldom seen. Based on the life story of Robert Misson. a political exile the story take the onlooker through a series of dramatic, romantic, and amusing situations requiring no fewer than eleven scenes, while the tuneful melodies of Sigmund Romberg are scattered with a lavish hand throughout the piece A hundred and fifty performers have been selected and a strong cast is rehearsing steadily under the direction of Harison Cooke. well-known producer of many successful shows.
