Straits Convention Signed TURK SOON ACTS Demilitarised Zones Reoccupied By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright (Received July 21, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 20. The Dardanelles Convention was signed at Montreux with gold fountain pens which the Turkish Government presented to delegates. Mr. S. M. Bruce (Australia), in closing the proceedings, testified to the delegations’ understanding and goodwill. They had established a new era in international relations bv settling disputes by common understanding. The ceremouy was broadcast throughout Turkey. Istanbul reports that 50,000 troops at midnight began the reoccupation of the demilitarised zones amid the cheers of crowds. Buildings were illuminated and beflagged and rejoicings took place in public squares, where couples’danced. Mothers and orphans of Turkish soldiers killed on Gallipoli, carrying flowers, accompanied ex-ser-vicemen who are placing wreaths ou the graves of Allied and Turkish dead.
