DOUBLE CAR TRAGEDY

Man on Trial at Dunedin

By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, July 20. The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court opened to-day with the trial of John Francis Harris on a charge of being intoxicated while in charge of a motor-car and causing the deaths of James Joseph Rogan and Charles Nicol Stewart. An alternative charge was that of negligent driving causing death. This case is a sequel to the tragedy near the Oval on May 9 in which two men and two women were struck by a car, the men being fatally injured. Accused pleaded not guilty. Lengthy evidence was heard and the court adjourned until to-morrow.
