Estimates of the cost of the Timaru Harbour Board’s improvement scheme were announced when members of the board waited on the Minister of Marine (Hon P. Fraser) to make representations to him for the ratepayers to be consulted before a scheme is considered by a Royal Commission. The estimates were as follows:—Eastern extension £94,249: lifting north mole, £54.000; electric cranes, £19.000; wharf sheds, £27,000; total, £194,249.
