The annual report of the Kelburn Bowling Club states that the membership stands at 115 playing and 19 honorary members. Incpine during the year amounted to £587/13/4, and expenditure to £458 18/2. The receipts from billiards and cards amounted to £B6/5/7, and afternoon teas showed a profit of £ll/16/-. The bank book on May 31 showed a credit of £45/10/2. ‘The extraordinarily wet summer had a very bad effect on the greens, as the continual rains never gave thpm a chance to properly dry out, thus the playing surface although true was never fast, but at the end of the season both greens were playing well,” the report proceeds. ‘The greens are being given the usual attention during the winter and promise to be in excellent condition for next season. The thanks of members are due to the green superintendent (Mr. F. C. Widdop) for the great amount of voluntary work and time he has devoted to the surveying, preparation of plans, specifications, etc., for the green extension and resultant . works, thereby saving the club considerable expenditure. Mr. W. Bell (the greenkeeper) is also to be thanked for good work done during the year. Following on the resolutions passed at the annual general meeting, authorising the extension of the small green by three rinks and financing of same, your committee arranged for the issue of debentures, in denominations of £l, to the Amount of £4OO, which were over-sub-scribed by members, and a contract was let for the excavation and filling and drainage work necessary. Under the supervision of Mr. F. C. Widdop (green superintendent) the formation of the green, fencing, etc., has been progressing satisfactorily, and shows signs of becoming an excellent lawn. By slightly altering tbo plans, Mr. Widdop enabled tfie new extension to be increased by ten feet beyond the original design, at very little extra cost, and' this will provide seven rinks east and west, and eight rinks north and south.” Khandallah Club The annual report of the Khandallah Bowling Club states that since the close of the season a comprehensive scheme of improvements to the green has been carried out The recommendations of Mr. W. M. Horton, supervisor and advisory officer to clubs, of the greens research committee of the New Zealand Golf Association, have been given effect to in their entirety. The membership now stands at 73, including three life members. The balance-sheet shows that income exceeded expenditure by £24 during the year.
