TWO NEW SCHOOLS

Education Board’s Plans BUILDING BRANCH BUSY Because of the large amount of work already in hand and a big programme for the immediate future, the AVellington Education Board’s building branch is busy at the present time. Plans are in course of preparation for the new side school for the Kelburu Normal School. This will cousist of oue large classroom of the open-air type. A uew school at Blenheim is also .ontemplated, the plans providing for teu classrooms, headmaster’s room, teachers’ room and two cloakrooms. A dental clinic is also being incorporated iu the school building. Cabinet has approved 01 grants for additional accommodation at the Boulcott, Trentham, AVaiwetu and AVilford schools, and for extension of the school site of the Rapaura School, Marlborough. The additions at Vaiwetu and AVilford will take the form of separate snfant departments. Two classrooms, a teachers’ room and cloakroom are being provided at AVilford, and at AVaiwetu three classrooms, cloakroom and teachers’ room. Both are designed on the open-air principle, having verandas along the front, on to which glass doors open right back. Cross-ventilation is provided in all classrooms. Additional classrooms and headmaster’s room are among improvements at the Boulcott School, and at Treutham the new rooms will be of the detached open-air type. The board hopes to have these works under way shortly.
