The sub-committee of I he board of the M’ellington Free Ambulance set up to report on and recommend what inotoi classes should be procured to replace the five now in service reported to yesterday's meeting of the board. After commenting upon the tenders received and making full inquiries (aided by experts) in the merits of each, the subcommittee (Messrs. G. Mitchell, D. J. McGowan and J. IV. .Tack) recommended the purchase of the following cliassos :—One “Imperial” Chevrolet, one Ford and one Wolseley.
Reporting on behalf of the sub-com-mittee, Mr. G. Mitchell gave reasons for the selection, the burden of which was that the purchase of the three ehasses would be in the nature of a tost. The purchase of the other two chasses was left in abeyance. The report was approved and adopted. It was also decided that the three now chasses be provided with locallymade bodies (at a named price), those bodies to bo similar in type to those at present in use.
