Governor-General Will Attend Ceremonies

In response to the invitation of the committee in charge of next week’s proceedings al Waitara for the unveiling' of tho Sir Maui Pomare Memorial and the opening of a memorial Maori meeting-house, advice has been received that the Governor-General, Lord Galway, will be present at the ceremonies on June 27. The Prime Minister has also intimated his intention of being present, and there will probit bly be other members of Cabinet, and members of Parliament from all over the Dominion, as well as members of Maori tribes from all over the North Island and .some from the South Island.
Tuesday is expected to be the day ou which the great bulk of the Maori visitors from other districts will arrive. aud they will be welcomed in ■traditional custom. The following days will be devoted to sports and entertainments, with tribal meetings. A hoekey tournament under the jurisdiction of the East Coast Hockey Federation will be played on the New Plymouth airport grounds, and the finals on Saturday at Waitara. There will be Rugby football matches on Thursday and Saturday, that on Thursday being the Taranaki v. Wanganui Maoris and on Saturday the match will, be East Coast v. other Maoris.
