The Davis Cui) inter-zone fipal between Australia and the winners of the European final between Germany ami Yugoslavia will be played on No. 1 court at Wimbledon on July IS. 20 and 21. Mr. Tom Whittaker, trainer of the Arsenal Football Club, has accepted an invitation to train the British Davis Cup team. WIMBLEDON SEEDINGS Some First Round Matches (Received June 18, 12.50 p.m.) London, June 17. The Wimbledon seedings are as follow: — Singles: F. ,1. Perry, G. Von Cramm. A. K. Quist, W. Allison, J. D. Budge, J. 11. Crawford, Et ; . IV. Austin and B Grant. Women: Miss Round, Miss Jacobs, Mrs, Fabyan, Miss Stammers Mrs. Sperling, Mme. Mathieu, Mlle. Jedzrejowska, Senorita Lizana. Men's doubles: Crawford and Quist. Allison, and van Ryn, Budge and Make, Hughes and Tuckey. The women’s doubles are headed by Misses Stammers and James, followed by Miss Jacobs and Mrs. Fabyan The mixed doubles are headed by Perry and Miss Round, the New Zealander. Mnlfroy. and Mrs. Sperling being placed fourth. Of the Australians, Crawford has the hardest Orst-round match, against the German. Prenn. Other matches will t.e McGrath v. Purcell, Quist r Taylor-Sp-roule v. the lion. c. N. O. Ritchie. Malfroy v the Yugoslavian Davis Cup player, Kukuljelic, E. D. Andrews v Aeschliman, and Stedman v. Wilde. ENGLISH WOMEN’S TEAM Australian Visit in 1937-38 Ixmdon, June IG. The British Lawn Tennis Association announces its acceptance of the Australian invitation to send an English women’s team to Australia in the English winter of W37-3R. INJURY TO ALLISON London, June 16. Wilmer Allison, the American tennis player, has dislocated a hip bone and is unlikely to play at Wimbledon. His injury is similar to Austin’s, whose hip bone was out of the socket. Austin has 1 nearly recovered and expects to play nt Wimbledon.
