REFEREES UP IN ARMS
No Complimentary Tickets For Representative Games TROUBLE IN TARANAKI By Telegraph—Press Association. Now Plymouth, June 17. Resenting the action of the Taranaki Rug|>y Union In deciding that no complimentary tickets would be issued for representative matches, members of the North Taranaki Rugby Referees’ Association to-night decided that their services would not be available for any further matches until the privilege Is restored. A circular conveying the Rugby union’s decision was received to-day and a meeting of referees was summoned immediately. The cancellation of complimentary tickets included even members of the management committee, and was made with a view to strengthening the union's funds. The referees stated that the union was depriving them of their only privilege despite their gratuitous service through the season. The South Taranaki Referees’ Association also considered the matter tonight and decided it would disband if the union did not reconsider its decision. The president of the union, the lion. James MtjLeod, said to-night that games would undoubtedly be played in i-pite of the referees’ decision. ' The union or the clubs themselves would arrange for referees.
