Parties and Politics
Sir,- —The Mortgagors Final Adjustment Act is one of the cruellest and most discreditable Acts ever put into force in any part of the world, amounting in many cases to the almost complete confiscation of the lifetime savings of old pioneers, who had placed their investments is farming properties. Let us show ourselves as worthy British subjects and give the new Government every encouragement and assistance in its undisputed sincerity and endeavour to place the country and its vast resources in something like working order again. If one-half of Mr. Savage's ideals are put into effect during his term of office, future history will proclaim him as one of our greatest statesmen. I would like to advise Mr. Polson that if an election were held to-morrow the present Government would more likely survive by n 75 per cent, majority of the total votes of this country than be turned out of office.— 1 am, etc., A. NICOL. Longburn, June 15.
