OBITUARY
Major A. H. Bathurst (Received June 14, 7.30 p.m.) London, June 13. The death has occurred of Major Arthur Henry Bathurst, Lord Bledisloe’s brother and military secretary during the early part of Lord Bledisloe’s term as Governor-General of New' Zealand. Dr. M. R. James (British Official Wireless.) (Received June 14, 5.5 p.m.) Rugby, June 12. The death occurred this afternoon, at the age of 73, of the Provost of Eton and former Provost of King’s College, Cambridge, Dr. M. R. James, following a severe heart attack yesterday. He was vice-chancellor at Cambridge from 1913 to 1915. A scholar in the more recondite branches of archeology whose learned works on ancient and medieval manuscripts appealed to specialists, Dr. James also acquired popular fame as a writer of ghost stories. Ho received the Order of Merit in 1930. Mr. Richard Watkins Sydney, June 13. The death has occurred of Mr. Richard Watkins, at the age of 82 years. He saw active service during the Great War, and it is claimed that he was the oldest member of the ALE He enlisted in 1915 at the age of (JI, and his statement that be was 14 was wyjy questioned.
