Wellington Market Prices
Hides had a good market at firmer rates, but sheepskins were easier at the sale held yesterday by the Wellington : A fair offering was sub; niitted, and competition was keen for an grades. Values for dry skins showed a further easing of Id. to Jcl. per lb. A small offering of salteds was disposed ot at unchanged prices. _ Hides: A good selection was offered. Heavy and medium weights remained firm, light ox and cow were a shade firmer, kip and yearling appreciated by id. to id. per lb. Calfskins met a good market, super lots advancing by about id. per lb. Tallow: Good demand at slightly lower values. The range of prices is quoted below:— Dry sheepskins: Half bred, 6}d. to 9sd.; fine crossbred, Sd. to 9Jd.; medium crossbred, 9d.; coarse crossbred, 7d. to 84d.; half wools. 6 1-Sd. to SJd.; quarter wools, 54d. to BJd.; pelts. 3J<l. to 7 1-Sd. Salted skins: Pelts, 1/6; quarter wools, 4/3 ; half wools, 1/9 to 5/6 ; three-quarter wools, 6/6; full wools, 6/8; lambs, 1/to 1/6. Hides: Ox, 331 b. to 441 b„ 4 1-Sd. to 5Jd.; 451 b. to 521 b., 5 5-Bd. to GJd.; 531 b. to 591 b., 6 1-8(1. to 7 3-Bd.; 601 b. to G'.ffln, 6 3-Sd. to 7 7-Sd.; 701 b. and over, 7 7-Sd. Dunedin Rabbitskin Sale At the rabbitskin sale held by the Otago Farmers’ Co-operative Association of New Zealand, Ltd., there was a full attendance of buyers, and a large catalogue was offered. The competition was restricted, buyers operating within well defined limits, and all grades showed a decline as compared with last sale. Low grade and autumn skins eased from 6d. to lOd. per lb., winter does declined from lOd. to 15d. per lb., while winter bucks, which were in better demand, showed a drop of from 2d. to 6d. per lb.
