Paris, June 8.

In the deciding singles of the Davis Cup third round match Pallada (Yugoslavia) defeated Destremeau (France) 6-1, 1-6, 8-6, 6-4; Puncec (Yugoslavia) defeated Boussus (France) 3-6, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.

Yugoslavia thus eliminated France by three matches to two. Yugoslavia’s defeat of France was tlie biggest surprise in the European zone and makes the semi-flnalists Yugoslavia against Austria and Germany against Ireland. Yugoslavia has not previously advanced beyond the second round. Boussus held match point in the fourth set, but Puncec’s resistance and stamina were so strong that Boussus was a spent force In the fifth set.
