WOMEN WRITERS AND ARTISTS

The Women Writers and Artists’ Society had a most entertaining speaker for this imopth’s meeting at the Lyceum Club. Mrs. Lola Maries, a traveller and journalist, gave a humorous talk entitled “Some Funny Episodes on a South Canterbury Sheep Station.” Quite apart from the humour of the talk, the value of it lay in the vivid and true manner in which it was presented. Mrs. A. D. Kerr was in the chair. After Mrs. Maries’s address, an interesting discussion was entered into concerning films for younger people. Supper was served by a willing band of helpers.
