WAGES ANOMALY
Relief Workers and County Employees
By Telegraph—Press Association. Waipukurau, June 9. That relief workers are paid 2/- an hour while county permanent labourers are receiving only 1/6 was commented on at a meeting of the Patangata County Council to-day. It was also mentioned that if wet weather prevented work relief workers were paid while county workers were not paid. Councillors unanimously. agreed that this was unjust, and pending the introduction of awards and an adjustment of wages generally all county labourers will be paid the same as surfacemen—£3/19/for a 47-hour week, including the provision of pay for wet weather.
