North Atlantic passenger carryings from January 1 to March 21 do not show any marked recovery in the volume of traffic, the actual numbers eastbound and westbound being 48,874 for this year, against 47,408 in the corresponding period of 1935. an increase of 1460. Third-class travel dropped from 21,35(1 to 19,162, a decline of 2194. Tourist travel rose by close upon 1500 to 15,310, while first-class and cabin passengers were over 2000 more.
