OVER THE HILLS TO LYTTELTON

Completion of Summit Road A total expenditure of £31.(100 is involved in the decision of the Government to complete the Summit Road, on the hills between Christchurch and the head of the Lyttelton Harbour. 'The Minister of Public Works, Hon. R. Semple, said yesterday that a large amount of public money had already been spent on the road and the full benefit from that expenditure could not be obtained unless the road were completed. It had therefore been decided lo finish the job and so create an asset that could be made use of. The work would provide employment for 120 to 150 men for six months.
