Hockey Tour Suggested. It was suggested at the fortnightly meeting of the executive of the Bush Union Hockey Association that endeavours should be made for a week’s tour by the representative team this season. An application is to be made to the Feilding association for a match for the Harper Cup. A delegate in Wellington was appointed to represent the Bush association at a special meeting of the New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Association, to be held in Wellington on June 17. The following fixtures were drawn up:—June 3: United v. Pahiatua, at Eketahuna, Mr. G. Ruakere; Nireaba v. Kaitawa, at Nireaha. Messrs. Suter and Payne; Hamua, a bye. June 10: Pahiatua v. The speaker at the annual meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society, which is to be held in the Plunket rooms on Wednesday next, will be _the nursing adviser to the society, Miss Fitzgibbon. It was reported at the annual general meeting of the Wairarapa Lake Domain Board that a certain amount of mischief was being done at the reserve, and that persons were fishing, shooting and using boats thenr’without the permission of the board. The board decided to ask the Acclimatisation Society to instruct their rangers to act for the board. Mr. W. Benton was re-elected chairman. Mauriceville Hall Society. The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Mauriceville Hall Society :—Chairman, Mr. J. McGovern ; treasurer, Mr. H. Myers; honorary secretaFy, Mr. J. Milner; committee, Mesdames Milner, Christopherson, Childs, and Messrs. D. McLean, Christophersen and I. D. Cameron. Coronation Ball. The coronation ball in connection with the Wairarapa and East Coast P. and A. Society’s queen carnival, _ which concluded recently, will be held in the Anzae Hall, Featherston, on Thursday, June 4.

Collie Dog Trials. Following are the winners of special prizes at the Masterton Collie Club’s annual trials, which were concluded on Friday:—President’s Cup (winner of long head, open), M. J. Wilton, Chiel; T. A. Jennings Cup (winner of maiden' long head), Miss M. Slattery, Cloud; M. J. Wilton Cup (winner of short head and yard, open), M. J. Wilton, Lad; women’s bracelet (for dog nominated by woman in short head and yard, open), Mrs. G. Thomson, Lad; ■ Gordon Thomson Cup (winner of huntaway, open), G. Thomson. Hinkler; Laing Memorial Challenge Cup (winner of maiden huntaway), J. H. Foreman, Lass; Gordon Thomson Cup (for team of two dogs, one in long head, one in huntaway), M. J. Wilton, Chiel and Rock; J. M. James’s special (for maiden competitor and maiden dog scoring most points in short head and yard), Miss M. Slattery; special (for youngest .•ompetitor), D. McGillivray. The cups and trophies will be presented at the club’s dance on June 16. The winner of the sheep weight judging contest was Mr. F. Spoonley, Mangaehu, whose estimate of 13211 b. was correct.

Trust Election Completed. The official recount of the votes cast in the Masterton Trust Lands Trust poll on Thursday for the election of three representatives was concluded on Friday, the positions of the candidates remaining unaltered. Repertory Performance. The Masterton Repertory Players will present a comedy in three acts, “Where There’s a Will,’’ in St. Matthew’s Parish Hall, Masterton, on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. West School Affairs.

Reporting to a meeting of the Masterton West School committee recently, the headmaster, Mr. W. T. Armstrong, stated that the present roll number was 354, of which number 255 pupils attended the main school and 99 the side school. Advice was received from the Education Hoard to the effect that a subsidy had been granted for the purpose of purchasing suitable books for a reference library. 'l'he resignation of Miss I. Taylor, infant mistress, was accepted with regret. The Wellington Education Board advised that Miss A. M. Marten, at present infant mistress of Kaiapoi School, had been appointed to fill the vacancy. A we.come was extended to the new beadmaster, Mr. Armstrong, and appreciation was expressed at the manner in which Mr. N. Ileyes had carried out his duties as actingheadmaster for the first term of the year. MASTERTON HARRIERS G. Kempton Wins Open Handicap Mastertun, May 31. Despito rather boisterous conditions, about 25 members of the Masterton Harrier Club took part in a 64-mile open handicap race over the Masterton golf links yesterday afternoon.
