BRAN GINGER CAKE Quarter cup butter or shortening, i cup sugar, 1 egg, 1 cup bran, 11 cups flour, -} teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon ginger, 1 teaspoon soda, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, 1 cup sour milk. J cup golden syrup. Cream shortening and sugar together. Add the egg. and beat well. Add bran, and mix and sift the dry ingredients, and then combine with first mixture, alternately with the sour milk and syrup. Pour into greased cake tin, a square one preferably, and bake in moderate oven for 30 to -10 minutes.
