The first woman pilot to land on the aerodrome near The Hermitage. Mount Cook, made the flight from Christ.church on Saturday morning, returning tlie same afternoon. Site is Miss O. Smith, of Christchurch, a Canterbury Aero Club pilot, who was present at the official opening of the aerodrome at Hie beginning of this month. Witli Mr. R. Voice as passenger in a club Gipsy Moth, Miss Smith took off from Wigram at 9.15 a.m. and made a perfect landing at 11.30 a.m. After lunch at Tlie Hermitage she left at 3 p.m., landing at Wigram at 4.55 p.m. Miss Smith had been on the ground previously. having been tlie passenger in tlie machine flown from Christchurch for tlie official opening by another chib pilot, Mr. R. S. Taylor.

Mr. R. W. Sneddon, of Messrs. Wat kins, Hull, Wheeler and Johnston, public accountants, has been appointed to the position of secretary for Shillings Limited, and will take up his duties next month
