PASSENGER’S QUICK CHANGE-OVER

From Liner to Liner SYDNEY TO LONDON VTA WELLINGTON To enter Wellington harbour by steamer from Sydney and to leave it in little more than half an hour later by a steamer bound for London via the Panama Canal, was the experience of an Australian traveller who made a quick change-over from one -ship to another last evening. Tho passenger was cutting things rather fine when he booked his passage in Sydney to travel to England from New Zealand in the Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tamaroa, but lie was assured that he would make the connection at 'Wellington. He left Sydney last Friday evening in the Monowai, which ordinarily arrives at Wellington at 3 o’clock on Monday afternoon. The Tamaroa was scheduled to depart from ■Wellington at 5 p.m. yesterday for Southampton and London via the Panama Canal. On the way across the Tasman Sea, however, the Monowai encountered stormy weather, which delayed her arrival. She sent a radio message yesterday morning stating that she would not arrive at Wellington until 6 p.m. yesterday, and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company then postponed the departure of the Tamaroa to enable the passenger to make his connection, arrangements being made with the Customs officials to expedite the handling of ills baggage. The Monowai berthed at the Queen’s Wharf about 5.40 p.m., and the passenger left the ship a few minutes later with his baggage for tlie Glasgow Wharf and joined the Tamaroa, which was all ready to cast off and which was heading down the harbour at 6.10 p.m
