JAIL FOR ARSON
Prisoners Sentenced at Wanganui Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, May 23. Air. Justice Smith sentenced prisoners at the Supreme Court, AVanganut session, this morning. Pleading guilty to wilfully setting lire to n whttre valued at £5O and a truck valued at £lO, lit the \A averley district, AVilliam Keane, labourer, wan sentenced to reformative detention for a period not exceeding two ’years oa the first charge, and to a further period not exceeding one year On the second charge, the sentences to be concurrent. “YOur character is not a good one, and yon are liable to impulses of crime,” remarked the judge Reformative detention for a period not exceeding two years, was the sentence imposed upon William Alfi’cd Christensen, labourer, who pleaded guilty to theft at Castlccliff. Samuel Ernest Ross, labourer, also concerned in the offence, was granted probation for a period of two years. The judge imposed special terms in granting probation, that Ross refund the value of the stolen property. £-1 and pay costs of prosecution, £l/5/-. The Aiayo’r, Air. AV. J. Rogers, undertook to keep Ross under supervision. Found guilty of Indecent, assault at Waitotara, Gordon Sydney Thotnaa Ba Isley was ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for a period not exceeding two years. The court adjourned from 10 o’clock this evening until 10 a.m. next I'liursday. His Honour will preside at Uff New Plymouth session on Alonday. •
