Dispute Between Members Of Police Force By Telegraph—Press Association. Gisborne, Alay 22. A long-standing dispute between an inspector of police autl two junior members of the police force in Gisborne will probably be ventilated in the Supreme Court next week. A board of appeal constituted under tlie Police Force Act sat in Gisborne on AVednosday and yesterday to deal with au appeal brought against an earlier decision of the inspector. The board comprised Mr. J. Miller, S.M., Air. Somerset Sjnitli, J.P., of Napier, aud Inspector R. AVard, of Auckland, and the sittings lasted until late each niglit. The proceedings were interrupted yesterday b.v tlie serving of a writ of certiorari and prohibition by Air. L. T. Burnard, counsel for the junior members of the force concerned In the proceedings, seeking to restrain the members of the appeal board from proceeding further on account of certain alleged irregularities arising prior to their appointment.
