There has. at various times, been considerable discussion on tlie correct spoiling of the word Wetherstono, near Lawrence. "Wetherston" is tlie generally accepted spelling, but there are many connected with the township, in tlie days when it was of greater importance than it is at tlie present time who hold that the mime of the place was "Wetherston.” That this is the correct spelling of (lie word would seem to be borne out by a survey map. made in ISGS, which is in Hie possession of Mr. Harry Hart, a former wellknown resident of (he district.
