SEVENTY ARRESTS
Republican Army Men In
Free State (Received May 22, 10.45 p.m.) Dublin, May 22. Seventy Irish Republican Army men. including Maurice Twomey, chief of staff of the "I.R.A. Times.” were arrested throughout the country at approximately the same hour on May 21 under the Put'lie Safety Act. This is the largest Republican round-up since Mr. de Valera came into office. There are now over 130 Republicans awaiting trial. Twomey was taken into custody while returning from Mass.
