VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE
“Careers for Boys and Girls,” by G. R. Giles (Melbourne: Robertson and Mullens). As lie indicates in the title, Mr. Giles sets out to give details of every class of employment, it.s prospects, its requirement*', and its nature. Copious general notes arc included for those at school or about, to leave school, ami such matters as “How to Get. a Job,” and “Meeting an Employer.” are discussed. The whole book is written for conditions obtaining in the State of Victoria, and thus must be regarded as having only limited application elsewhere. This is a pity, for the book is a product of much research. On the other hand, detail would have to be sacrificed were it made more general. Still, in its present condition, there is much to interest anybody in search of a career, or anybody in a position to advise someone else to the same end.
