Karori, Karori Park 3, 3 p.m. Women’s Hockey. The third series of matches in the opening round of the Wellington women’s hockey championship competition will be played this afternoon. In the senior A grade chief interest will in the Hutt United-Poneke game at Newtown Park on No. 2 ground, starting at 3 o’clock. On No. 1 ground at the same time Swifts will meet Technical Old Girls' (II), while at Kilbirnie Reserve Varsity meet Training College at 2.o’clock, and College Old Girls play Huia at 3 o'clock. Keen interest is _ also being shown in the game at Porirua between Toa and Technical Old Girls (1), which will start at 2 o’clock. Senior B grade matches will be:— Wesley v. The Poneke Amateur Cycling Club will hold a 20-miles races' for senior and an 8-miles race for junior riders at 2.30 p.m. to-day. The start will be from the Central Fire Station in Jervois Quay. The Port Nicholson Cycling Club will hold a 21-miles race at Island Bay this afternoon, starting from Derwent Street at 2.45. The teams for the Hope Gibbons Shield will be selected after the race. The Petone dull will hold a 20-miles race for the National Cup this afternoon, starting and finishing at the Grand National Hotel. Tlie race will start at 2.15.
