HEIMWEHR’S WELCOME
Starhemberg Cheered (Received May 21, 8.50 p.m.) Vienna, May 20. Tlie Heimwehr gave a vociferous reception to Prince Starhemberg at tbe Vienna airport on his return from Rome. Members of the Heimwehr assembled on the road and cheered as he drove to headquarters. The Heimwehr guards of honour had fixed bayonets, incidentally proving that the disarmament of the Heimwehr is not yet complete. Feeling still runs high in connection with Prince Starhemberg’s deposition from the Vice-Chancellorship. A great meeting of provincial Heimwehr leaders will follow to-day’s conference of Prince Starhemberg, Major Baarenfels the new Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Draxler, Minister of Finance. BRITAIN AND AUSTRIA Covenant Obligations (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, May 20. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Anthony Eden, asked in the House of Commons what obligations had been incurred to defend the independence and integrity of Austria, replied : “I would refer the bon. member to tbo Covenant, of the League of Nations.”
