Hints on Planting
See that the fibre on which bulbs are growing never become dry.

When planting Oriental poppies it is all-important that the long tap root goes straight down into the soil without bending or twisting. So make a really deep planting hole and place the root correctly in-position. Then firm the soil all round it.
Decayed leaves can be used as a topdressing among flowering shrubs.
Primroses will grow without effort under your trees, if you plant them in stations specially prepared with leaf-mould. ,
There is no lack of summer flowers suitable for growing beneath trees. A mass of foxgloves is possibly the host, while Campanula grandis, Dicentra eximia, Tiarella cordifolia and herbaceous spiraeas can all bo used with charming effect, and the Himalayan poppy (Meconopsis Baleyi) succeeds nowhere better.
