Fair to fine; unsettled conditions developing. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending o p.m. to-day. An anti-cyclono extends across the North Island, but a westerly depression is advancing over the south Tasman Sea, and a slight depression is also located west of Norfolk Island. Northerly winds, strong about Cook and Foveaux Straits; elsewhere moderate, but increasing generally. Seas rough about Cook Strait and rising also south of Farewell Spit and tn Foveaux Strait; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight to moderate. North-easterly winds in the northern portion of the eastern Tasman. Sea. and north-westerly to westerly in the southern portion; moderate but increasing, with rising seas. Weather fair to fine in most districts, with mild and in eastern areas, warm temperature'! Cloudy to overcast, however, with further scattered rain in tin western and far southern parts of the South Island, and later unsettled conditions extending to most districts with a westerly aspect, and also to the fat north. Wanganui.—Fine but dull and overcast; light westerly breeze. ■Waipukurau.—A hard frost in the early morning was followed by a bright, sunny day. The barometer showed little movement. Auckland.—The prolonged spell of remarkably fine weather continued day, which was clear and sunny. A light breeze was blowing from the south. The barometer was steady all day at 30.40 in. Christchurch.—Fine but rather chilly, with a maximum temperature of 57.2<1eg A verv light east-north-east breeze m the morning and a light north-east m the afternoon. The barometer was rising and last evening stood at 3().2.nn. Dunedin.—After dull and threatening conditions early, the sun shone brightly from noon onward. The barometer fell slightly, but showed a rising tend n<. later. Tho maximum temperature was 55deg.
