Tlie unusual eourse of prohibiting a wonum convicted of shoplifting from shopping in certain areas was adopted by Mr. Wyvern 'Wilson, S.M., this morning, when dealing with Dorothy BorielC married, aged 29, who pleaded guilty on Saturday to stealing a cake of soap valued at 1/3. Tlie magistrate said that although she had twice previously been convicted and when warned had undertaken not to go to tliis particular store again, lie would take into consideration the fact that accused had been attending the nerve clinic at Auckland Hospital for some months and was still suffering from mental depression. He admitted her to probation for two yea rs.
“I think in this case that .1 had better impose restrictions where the temptation will not be so great,” said tlie magistrate. "She will be prohibited from shopping in Karaugahape Hoad, Queen Street, and Hobson Street. She can do her shopping in tlie smaller shops.”
