Marketing in Great Britain
Sir,—One reads with satisfaction that the Government proposes to employ salesmen at Home to still further popularise our products in England. It is to be hoped that such positions, if any, will be duly advertised in the daily Press, and that all appointments made will be wise ones. We already have a small army of marketing officials in England, but it would appear thiit appointees were chosen- more for political reasons than for-their actual experience in marketing, and .propaganda. ... It. is to be sincerely hoped that the present Government will employ only meti versed in salesmanship, and men possessing h' knowledge of Ixith England and ' New' Ze'iilabiE Qualifications of lesser value are useless. The ultimate aim of nil producers is to sell the goods produced at a profit, and this calls for experienced salesmanship. It will be interesting to see if the Labour Government recognises this taet.—l :im etc P RODUCU. Palmerston North, May 16.
