Objection By Senior Team DIFFERENCE OF OPINION Objection to senior teams being asked to play championship matches at 1.30 o'clock on Saturday afternoons was made by Mr. F. J. Tilyard at the meeting of the management committee of (he Wellington Rugby Union last night. He pointed out that many players had to work until 1 o'clock on Saturday afternoon, and it was unfair to compel them to rush up to the ground and take the field without having had any lunch. Air. J. N. Millard said that, some of the senior games he had seen at Athletic Park at 1.30 had been superior to the matches which followed at 3 o'clock. Mr. IL D. Morgan agreed with Mr. 'Tilyard. remarking that senior teams should have the right to say whether they would play nt such an early hour. Fixtures for Saturday Week. The following senior fixtures were arranged for Saturday week : — Senior A, First Division. AA'eliington College Ohl Boys v. Eastbourne, at Athletic Park. Wellington v. Athletic, at Athletic Park. I’otieke v. Marist Brothers’ Old Boys, at Athletic Park. Petone v. Hutt, at Hutt. AVhich teams will play in the early game at Athletic Park on Saturday week will be decided at the park after next Saturday's matches. Senior A, Second Division. Pirates v. University, at Kelburn Park. Johnsonville v. Oriental, at Kilbirnie. United v. Miramar, at Polo Ground. Athletic v. St. Patrick’s College Old Boys, at Prince of AValee Park. Senior B. Onslow v. AVellington College Old Boys, at Nairnville Park. Porirua v. Eastbourne, in town. Poneke v. Hutt ,at Hutt. University v. AVcllington, in town. An Unsatisfactory Ground. he Miramar club wrote protesting about the state of No. 2 ground at Quinn's Post on Saturday last. “'The grass on this ground is wt least two feet high, and the hall was out of sight nearly all the game,” the letter stated. “In fact, when a kick was being taken the players had to ask the referee to notify them when the ball was on the ground. It is> to be hoped that no more games will be set down for this ground until the grass is cut.” It was decided to ask the Upper Hutt club if the condition of the ground could be improved. The Onslow club reported that the marking out of the grounds at Nairnville Park was very unsatisfactory. It was decided to ask the director of parks and reserves if the grounds could be better marked. 'The town clerk of the Petone Borough Council advised that dressing accommodation in McKenzie Baths had been made available to the users of Nofth Park. Good Conduct Competition. It. was decided that (he competition recommended by the junior advisory committee between teams from junior I grade to seventh grade should commence on Saturday week. This competition awards a maximum of 10 points for (a) loyalty to the captain and conduct on and off the field; (b) punctuality on field of piny; (c) adheres to rules and spirit of game: and (d) appearance of teams as regards dress. The competition will be judged by referees, and points will bo deducted for breaches of the conditions laid down. UNIVERSITY MATCH Auckland v. Wellington A Rugby match between Auckland University College and A’ictoria University College will he played this afternoon at Auckland. The teams are:— AUCKLAND. Full-back : R. G. Bush.
