Australian Industrials Firm MARKETS ACTIVE There was again a very substantial turnover on the "Wellington Stock Ex change yesterday. Australian industrial and trading issues continued in favour of a strong market and accounted for 1J <>l the 36 sales recorded. Australian Glass advanced to sales at 91/- and 92/- on reports of a one tor two share distribution. G. J. Coles continued to strengthen and were actively traded at up to 80/- and 80/3, a gain of 6/- to 6/6 during the last week. Burns I’hilp were traded at 70/6, Amalgamated Wireless repeated a sale at >’o/6, and Colonial Sugars were done at f4l/t>/to £4l/7/6. -Mount Lyells were also firmer on business at 24/7. Buyers moved up to 64/- for Broken Hill Proprietary and to 3S/6 for the new issue. 10/paid, but holders asked 65/- and 09/- respectively.. Business in New Zealand shares was fairly well spread. Bank of New Zealands firmed 'to sales at 4u/6 and 4.J/J, and the D long-term issue to 30/-. Union Steam preference were done at -</*• Wellington Woollen preference hardened to sales at £6/5/9 and £6/5/6. Breweries were well supported at late rates.
