«, At Middleton-Overton, in Lancashire, during the drought of last summer, nearly half the children were suffering from’jaundice in consequence of the wafer scarcity. The climax came when a resident discovered a dead rat in the village well, and this started an agitation which has now resulted in the spending of some £lO.OOO on bringing a proper supply of water into the district.
