New Zealand Council Meeting CHATHAM CUP ENTRIES A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Ajwocitition wa<s held last evening, there being present Messrs. J. A. Milburn (in the chair), W. L. Wilson, I’. McKenzie, IL A. A. Renal, J. I. Walls, B. Martin, W. J. Yancy. IL L. Godber, F. Sanders, and A. Williams, secretary. A letter was received from the Christchurch Football Association stating that the council's letter giving the reason for not playing a Test match against the Australians in Christchurch bad been received at (he weekly meeting of the management committee, when the finding of the council had been accepted with regret. as it was felt that a great opportunity to create interest in the code there was being missed. The council decided to appoint Mr. T. Davies, Auckland, as trainer to travel with the Australian team. A further protest against the exclusion of Southland from the itinerary of the Australian tour was received from the Southland Football Association, which suggested that one of the games allotted to Otago should be played at gill“I know you arc all of the same opinion as mvself that we should like to include Southland,” said the ehairman, “but owing to the shortening of the itinerary by a week it 'is unfortunately impossible to visit all the minor associations. It is not possible at this late stage to amend the itinerary.” Mr. Renai: Southland certainly have a good ease, and we should like to have given them a game. It was decided to write to the Southland association regretting that their request could not be acceded to. A request was received from the South Auckland Football Association asking that the Auckland provincial final of the Chatham Cup competition be played each year in the South Auckland area, instead of in alternate years as at present. It was decided to consider the request. Entries for Chatham Cup. It was decided to extend the date of the closing of the Chatham Cup entries until May 30. To date 13 entries have been received, as follow : — Canterbury: 'Western A, Western B, Thistle. . Otago: Itoslyn-IVaikare, Maori Hill and Mosgiel. , Auckland: Ponsouby, Hustle and Mount Albert. Grammar Old Boys. Buller: All Blacks. Southland: Corinthians. South Auckland: Hamilton Wanderers and Ilotowaro.
