EXPLOSION IN MINE

Four Queensland Men Killed HEAVY FALL OF EARTH By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. (Received May 17, 6.30 p.m.) Brisbane, May 17. Four men were killed when they were entombed by an explosion in the Aberdare colliery No. 2 mine at Dinmore, near Ipswich, on Saturday night. The victims were Christopher Yeoman, aged 55; Edward Turner, aged 45; Robert Binnie, aged 52; and Albert Bercy, aged 50. The men were alone in the shaft, where they were endeavouring to cut off from the main workings an old fire in one of the drives. Immediately the explosion was heard rescuers descended, but they were unable to reach the four miners because of a heavy fall of earth.
