The direct representation of New Zealand importers by an organisation in London, which will be eipialilied to undertake any negotiations concerning the rates of freight upon exports from the Failed Kingdom, has been made possible by (lie agreement of the New Zealand shipping lines to accord to i'ae .Australian and Now Zealand Merchants’ Association similar recognition to flint given by Australian shipping owners and brokers, according t.o advice received by the New Zealand Importers’ Federation. Tn order that the association will be better able to underlake the duties it can now perform, on behalf of New Zealand interests, it is. proposed to broaden the membership, and to rename the body “the New Zealand Merchants and Shipper'-' Association.” To-night, at 8 o'clock, the Hataitai Municipal Electors’ Association will hold its 26th annual meeting in the Methodist Church Hall, Hataitai.
