Dated 1598.. an interesting Bible, believed to be a genuine copy of tlie “Breeches” Bible, is in the possession of Mr. G. Gifford, of Te Awamutu. This particular issue of I lie Bible derives its name from the fact that the third chapter of Genesis contains the word ‘‘breeches” in plaee of “aprons.” Tlie volume is in a good state of preservation, but the Old English is rather difficult to read. The book bears an imprint staling that it was "imprinted at London by the Deputies of Christopher I'.arkiT. Printer to the Queens Most Excellent Majesty."
